BEFORE ARRIVING
Submit
your technical request form to your designated local beamline
scientist as requested.
Submit the
Experimental Safety Approval Form (ESAF) at least one week -
preferably two weeks in advance
of your arrival listing all experiments, materials and
participating staff ONLY.
Under no circumstances is an
unapproved experiment to be conducted. Failure to comply with
this policy and procedure may result in the delay or termination
of an experiment.
SITE
ACCESS: Be sure that all new team members
register with the APS far in
advance of their initial visit Non-
US citizens must allow additional time for clearance by
the Department of Energy (2-3 week minimum lead time. (Experimenters who
have visited Argonne in another capacity still need to register
specifically with the APS.)
Shipments
to and from HPCAT:
It is the responsibility of the User to pay the carriage to and
from the APS, as well as securely packaging materials according
to DOT regulations. We
will be happy to arrange for pick-up.

Laptop Policy: Please note
that due to the need for protecting our network against viruses that
can be imported by laptops and other computers brought on site
by users, connection of these computers to our network is
absolutely forbidden. HPCAT does have wireless connection.
Food Policy:
No eating or drinking in the Sample Lab at all;
No food storage on the beamline.
No food or drink in the hutches, but allowable at a beamline
computer while data analyzing as long as the area is kept
clean.
